A
big thank you to everyone who has come out to blues gigs and gospel
programs the past few months. It’s
great to see familiar and new faces.
As
most of you know I lead a double musical life alternating between blues and
gospel. The Gospel Travelers, my second family, just performed in
Stockton and San Jose.
The
Travelers have been making great strides under the tutelage of renowned
musical director Jesse McDaniel. Our background harmonies are
stunning, and Rev. Johnson, Glenna, Diane and Jackie have been switching
off on lead. The Rev continues to knock me out with his powerful
old-school style.
I usually
close with a note about what’s on
rotation on my car CD player (which skips worse than my
old vinyl does). This month it’s Sam Cooke
with the Soul Stirrers, the Sensational
Nightingales and Cantor Moshe
Koussevitzky.
Until
next time.
